ALIKA Wind is a patented 3D radar system for detecting, tracking and protecting birds and bats at wind farms. It was born from the SARCAPE research programme and is now delivered as a turnkey product by Alika Technologies.
High-performance radar
ALIKA Wind uses patented radar technology that detects and locates birds and bats of all sizes, tracking every flight path in 3D around the wind farm. It can detect birds even inside wooded areas and is not affected by the loss of visibility that degrades camera-based systems. Monitoring continues at night, including bats.
Advanced algorithms
The brain of ALIKA Wind processes billions of data points every second on latest-generation FPGAs to extract the features of the radar returns. Algorithms developed specifically for bird monitoring estimate size and wingbeat characteristics. Instant trajectory tracking yields prediction rates far higher than competing technologies, with continuous learning as the system is used.
Modularity and adaptability
ALIKA Wind is designed for the wind environment. Its modular architecture delivers optimal coverage on any topology, minimising blind spots. Units install directly on turbine towers, so a full wind-farm deployment needs no civil works.
Full integration
ALIKA Wind sends stop and restart alarms to turbines individually, keeping production loss to a minimum. Alika Technologies provides the upfront engineering, installation, commissioning and system integration.
